I was checking on the garden today and saw that the tomatoes look amazing. But here’s the reality.
Due to life circumstances, the last 10 years have sucked the life out of me so much that I just couldn’t do a garden. But I took an hour one day and planted the tomatoes. The rest of the garden is overgrown with weeds. Tall weeds. And in this season of the soul, I’m Ok with that.
Strangely, the tomatoes look the best so far in years. With me doing nothing. Why? Because God has brought the rain.
As I was looking at the tomato garden and the tall weeds in the other garden, it struck me anew that there can be no harvest without a planting.
If we plant, even if it is small, there is potential for a harvest.
Harvest sometimes is a long time before we see any tangible reality of what we’ve planted. Garden plants take months. Fruit trees take years.
But if we become discouraged, we might be tempted to stop planting. At that point any kind of harvest then becomes an impossibility.
Sometimes I write this blog and sometimes I write books and sometimes I am able to talk to others about the LORD. And I wonder, is it doing any good? Sometimes I get discouraged trying and seeing no fruit. Sometimes I pray and don’t see the results. For years. So do I give up?
But then the LORD used the garden to remind me. He is the one who makes it grow. It is our job to plant. Always be planting. Whether it be a prayer, a Scripture, a blog, a book or more. Because if God has something to work with, He can make it grow.
Always be planting seeds. You never will know what God can do.
