To Know Jesus and Make Him Known

They’ll Never Know – Ps 59

Have you ever heard that before?  When someone wants to do something they know is wrong, they’ll say, “No one will find out,” “No one will ever know,” “No one will see.”

David was unjustly being hunted to be killed.  David says this (Ps 59:6-8):

They return at evening, snarling like dogs
and prowling around the city.
Look, they spew from their mouths—
sharp words from their lips.
“For who,” they say, “will hear?”
But You laugh at them, Lord;
You ridicule all the nations.

David’s enemies were saying vicious things and thinking to themselves, ‘no one will hear.’  But David knows and fears the Lord.  He knows that God knows and hears.  And the Lord God will respond to evil and injustice.

David knew God’s character.  That he was good and loving and kind, but also that God was just and hated evil.  Therefore he knew God was his refuge.  And that refuge is the place of peace:

But I will sing of Your strength
and will joyfully proclaim
Your faithful love in the morning.
For You have been a stronghold for me,
a refuge in my day of trouble.
To You, my strength, I sing praises,
because God is my stronghold—
my faithful God.
