I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them.  For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive.

Can thus be even more applicable for today?  People who cause divisions?  Those who put obstacles in the way with contrary doctrine?  Some who serve their own appetites?  And do by convincing words that deceive the naive?

Scriptures are clear:

BE ON YOUR GUARD.

AVOID THEM.

DON’T BE NAIVE.

People will believe anything,  Run from those who teach doctrines just that are off.  They usually won’t do so by being directly off.  At least not at first.   Just avoid them all out.  Run from them.

Don’t keep their company.   They will corrupt your mind.

Know the Word.  Because their arguments will sound nice, but they are contrary to Christ’s teaching.
