The Gospel Explain in Romans

What We Learn from Romans

The book of Romans has changed history.  Literally.  The protestant reformation was initiated when Martin Luther understood its message.  But even before that, it was wrecking kingdoms of man and changing lives for the glory of God.

In a nutshell, Romans is the gospel.   The gospel of grace, the gospel of salvation by faith, and the gospel that goes forth to all peoples, Gentiles included.

So what do we learn?

1) The gospel is the power of God for salvation to all peoples, Jew first and then the Gentiles.

2) God brings righteous judgment on all peoples – Jews, Gentiles, EVERYONE

3) There is NO ONE righteous

4) Salvation is BY FAITH

5) The fruit of salvatoin is PEACE and JOY

6) When united with Christ in baptism, we become DEAD TO SIN and ALIVE IN CHRIST

7) The Law is good, it’s us who is the problem.

8) Through Christ there is now NO CONDEMNATION

9) God chose Israel but they have walked in unbelief, but that opened the door to the Gentiles

10) Israel did not understand.

11) But eventually Israel will turn to the Lord and it will be glorious.

12) We are to be living sacrifices who love well

13) We must love and honor all

14) This looks like bearing with those whose faith is weak

15). The Gentiles will praise him

16) There is a great community of faith

The book of Romans is the most complete telling of the gospel message of Christ.  Romans takes all the pieces and parts and puts it all together in one comprehensive picture.
