To Know Jesus and Make Him Known

When the Earth Shakes, He Steadies its Pillars – Ps 75

When I choose a time, I will judge fairly.  When the earth and all its inhabitants shake, I am the One who steadies its pillars” (Ps 75:2-3).

There have been times throughout human history where it is as if the pillars of the earth are shaking, the very foundations that are tottering.  I think we can all agree we are in one of this seasons of world history.

We wish God would come now, riding in on one of his horses to save the earth and make it “normal” again.  We want him to stop the tidal wave of evil and reward the righteous.

In time, He will do this.

In time, He will judge the earth.

In time, He will steady the shaking.

But it’s a time He chooses.  Free will has to be honored.  His purposes are yet to be fulfilled.  Sometimes I’m sure He has to be slow in judgment so we will see for ourselves what life is like when we reject Him.

In times of such evil, it is tempting for people to shake their fist at God or speak arrogantly against him.

I say to the boastful, ‘Do not boast,’ and to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up your horn.  Do not lift up your horn against heaven or speak arrogantly” (Ps 75:4-5).

God is the Judge” (Ps 75:7) and not only that, but in His time He will bring His justice.

Therefore let the righteous praise Him in the daytime and praise Him in the night.  Let those who honor God continue to do so no matter the circumstances.

As for me, I will tell about Him forever; I will sing praise to the God of Jacob.  “I will cut off all the horns of the wicked, but the horns of the righteous will be lifted up” (Ps 75:9-10).

When I choose a time, I will judge fairly” (Ps 75:2).

Stay the course, friends.  Eventually, maybe even not in our lifetimes, but eventually He will steady the earth once again.

May He find us faithful.
