To Know Jesus and Make Him Known

I am at Rest in God Alone – Ps 62

I just now started filling out some paperwork for something and the stress just skyrocketed.  Then I read, “I am rest in God alone” (Ps 62:1).  Come what may, He is for me and with me.  It’s just scary sometimes.  The world is not what it used to be even just a month ago.

I think of David.  He was so rejected by his family.  You might have thought that he would have been emotionally hindered but we really don’t see that.  What he didn’t get from his family as a boy he received in the Lord.  Because he knew the Lord had his back with his sheep, then he knew that the Lord would have his back in life.  That impartation of strength that typically comes from parents came from the Lord.

Rest in God alone, my soul, for my hope comes from Him.  He alone is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I will not be shaken” (Ps 62:5-6).

Sometimes he needed to remind himself.  We all do.  But he knew that hope in man would come to nothing.

Men are only a vapor; exalted men, an illusion” (Ps 62:9).

Nor were riches to be trusted.

If wealth increases, pay no attention to it” (Ps 62:10).

Where is the one we turn to?

Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts before Him.  God is our refuge” (Ps 62:7-8).

We are in crazy times.  Airlines are striking this week.  Jobs are being lost and families torn apart.  Lies are being promulgated and false accusations made.

Red in God alone, my soul, for my hope comes from Him” (Ps 62:5).
