There was one thing thought by the Israelites to be deemed impossible – that the glory of God would ever leave the temple and Jerusalem. But it happened. Here.

Again, I do not do well in the glorious, descriptive language. What Ezekiel sees though is clearly a representation of God’s glory in the temple, similar to what he saw in Ezekiel 1. And that glory is packing up and moving out. God was removing his presence from the people.

If you are a Christian, you can only imagine how awful it would be if God removed His presence from your life. It’s unthinkable. But this is the way that Israel felt and experienced. Alone and abandon from God but not because of His doing, but their own. Although it would be a long time in coming before they would see that.
