What is truly holy in these days and times? Sexual relationships used to be holy. But now people live together freely and particulate sexually outside of marriage. So that’s not very holy anymore. So um… what else is holy? Our thoughts? Opinions? No. Have the wrong thoughts and you get cancelled not just by the masses but by friends. Anything else? I’m thinking. And I’m not coming up with anything.

The truth is that the diving line between the holy and the common has mostly been erased. And yet the LORD teaches us through the temple that there is a dividing line. There should be separateness with some things. In fact, that is what the word means – “to be set apart,” “holy.”

Has there been a blurring of the line between the holy and common in my life? I think of my prayer life. Oftentimes it’s reclined in a chair. Is it on my knees in a posture of prayer? What about my thoughts. Are they with malice, envy and bitterness or thanksgiving and worship? What about Sundays. Is it just a day like every other day with church thrown in?
